Rubberband
Nearly 35 years after it was originally recorded Mile Davis’ apparently “lost” album ‘Rubberband’ was finally released last year. The LP is a collection of songs that were recorded when Davis first moved from Columbia to Warner Bros. back in the mid-eighties. Several pieces of music were during that early period with the major label, but none of them surfaced, remaining in the ‘vaults’ for a couple of decades before a few were released on compilations. Now Rhino Recordings have put them all together on an album. A few of the recordings were incomplete, so they’ve been polished up and finished by original producers Randy Hall and Zane Giles, plus Davis’ nephew Vince Wilburn, Jr. And here we have it, jazzy pop funk from the Rubber Band sessions finally seeing the light of day…
